Tiara from early Miss Fiesta contests

The first Miss Fiesta was Teresa Benevidez in 1954.

This Miss Fiesta contest is a major event each year, as the Fiesta Queen reigns over all of the activities associated with the annual Fiesta event.

Contest winners are chosen by three judges from out of town. Participants are judged in three areas: a long-format interview, formal attire, and question answering.  In addition to the Miss Fiesta title, first and second runners up are named, and one girl is named Miss Congeniality.

All of the contestants win Gift Bags containing items from local businesses. Miss Fiesta and the runners up are are awarded scholarships. A new tradition is a drawing for graduating senior participants to win a scholarship and a microwave.

Miss Fiesta pictures over the years are on display at the museum.
